Distilld is a Progressive Web App, learn more about this technology
There are many ways to develop an app. In this podcast I talk to Martijn Fleurkens about developing Progressive Web Apps (PWAs). What is a PWA and what are the benefits of creating apps with this technology. Why PWA and not Native?
Martijn, a creative developer with experience in development, design and management. Works in his spare time on his app Distilld. Listen to his podcast about how he did this.
Back in 2007, Steve Jobs introduced a concept during the launch of the iPhone: the idea of building apps using standard web technologies to enhance accessibility and popularity. Seventeen years later, this vision has evolved into what we now know as Progressive Web Apps (PWAs). These applications blend web and mobile
The journey developing the Distilld app
Distilld was born out of a passion for whisky and a desire to create a platform where enthusiasts could discover, share, and appreciate whisky. Unsure whether desktop or mobile would be the more popular approach, I wanted to ensure flexibility. By leveraging PWA technology, we created an app that offers a seamless experience across all devices. Distilld is downloadable on the Google Play Store and the App Store, as well as accessible on the web at distilld.io.
In this podcast, Martijn Fleurkens wil discuss how users feel about this technology and explore whether PWAs could be taken a step further and considered for enterprise applications. Join me as we dive into Progressive Web Apps.
