I split my time between the for-profit and non-profit worlds. I am the founder of Appsterdam and an Apple Design Award-winning product engineer. I have worked on some great apps, including Delicious Library, Tap Tap Revenge, Obama '08, and Apple's retail store app.
My goal is to bring people together and help them understand each other. I have traveled broadly, speaking to app makers and entrepreneurs around the world, listening and observing how businesses are built and futures imagined.

Brechtje de Leij
I work as a mobile strategist for my own company B-Digitized, helping businesses with a mobile-first or even mobile-only digital strategy. I strongly believe that with the right mobile mindset and strategy, mobile can bring more than ‘just eyeballs’, it is an excellent channel to build loyal customer relationships. In this age, mobile needs to be at the heart of your digital strategy. My ten years of experience in mobile has been published in my book Mobiele Eenheid, which helps businesses get ready for this mobile era.
Previously, I've been responsible for the launch of the Greetz app, winning the e-commerce industry award ‘Best Mobile Shop’. At NU.nl, I’ve set up an in-house mobile development team, rebuilding the entire mobile portfolio with a special focus on mobile monetization. Mobile traffic grew from 50 to 80% and mobile has become a substantial part of the total revenue. At IceMobile, I’ve worked on the omnichannel eCommerce platform for Jumbo, of which the Jumbo app was awarded ‘best supermarket app’by consumer organisation Kassa.
As a ‘lady geek’ I love new tech & gadgets. I was for instance part of Google’s Glass Explorer Program, being one of the first people to experiment with wearables and AR. I’ve build apps for smartwatches and smart glasses, and apps for all the operating systems out there. Yes, even for Symbian and Blackberry back in the days. Today I have a Google Home and Nest in my living room, to experiment with conversational interfaces and the connected home.
